Tesco Ireland’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Andrew Yaxley, has set out new strategy to restore growth to its Irish operations. The vision focuses on re-building shopper engagement, simplify product ranges and developing alternate sales channels.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Fresh Foods First: Tesco’s main focus will be fresh foods such as bakery items and meats, rather than general merchandising.
  • Product Range Rationalization: To reduce its product lines by 15%, and multipack deals by 35%. Also plans to revamp its Clubcard reward scheme.
  • Private Labels: To arrest the dropping sales of private labels, Tesco has already put in an extra 1,000 private label products into its stores.
  • Convenience & Online Expansion: Plans to expand Express stores from current 30 stores and build its online channel and home delivery service in the country.
