As the UK's four largest retailers continue to struggle for sales growth, Waitrose plans to expand its footprint in the North of England. Waitrose has announced plans to double its store count over the next 15 years.

Whilst German discounters Lidl and Aldi continue to post double digit growth, Waitrose, who positions itself as a premium retailer, has also outperformed the big 4 grocers in the UK.  As the fastest-growing supermarket in the UK, it continues to expand steadily through new store openings in both supermarkets and convenience, driving online sales, winning market share from competitors and driving like-for-like sales. Currently, it operates around 300 stores, predominately in the southern part of the country.
