Metro has agreed to sell all 12 of its Real Hypermarket stores and HQ in Turkey to Haci Duran Begendik.
- The competiton authorities still have to approve the deal, it is hoped this will be done by the end of the summer.
- This transaction now gives Begendik stores in Ankara, in which it currently doesn't have any as well as reinforcing its primary store base in Central Turkey.
- In 2012/13 Real Turkey had a turnover of EUR 256M and employed 1,800 staff.
- The value of the transaction has not been disclosed by either party.
The sales will allow Metro to refocus upon its Real Hypermarket operation in Germany and on its Metro C&C & Media-Saturn operations in Turkey.
