Argos has announced that it will roll out its eBay click and collect service to 650 stores following the successful trial which started in September 2013.
- The service allowed customers to purchase from 50 eBay merchants and collect their items from 150 Argos stores.
- As a result of the success of the trial more eBay merchants will have access to the system which utilises third party logistics providers delivering the eBay orders to individual Argos stores.
- It is anticipated that by the end of 2014 around 65,000 eBay sellers will offer items for collection at Argos, rising to around 80,000 in 2015. Argos will make the Click & Collect service available in about 650 of its stores.
This decision shows how pureplay players like eBay are trying to break down the barriers to shopping online and make it more convenient for their customers.
