Mercadona has announced intentions to add up to 200 stores in the coming years in Spain
- Company President, Juan Roig, stated there is more opportunity for expansion in areas such as Madrid and Catalonia.
- The retailer recently entered the Basque Country, where it had not previously operated and plans to add 25 stores.
- Mercadona announced plans to open 60 stores in 2014 in March. The retailer opened 35 stores and refurbished 22 stores with an investment of EUR 174 million as of August.
